The Toronto-based solar power company has chosen Mesquite as the site for its initial solar module factory in the United States, marking a significant milestone in the region's renewable energy landscape. Site Selection Group, in collaboration with CAPSTAR Real Estate Advisors, facilitated securing Canadian Solar as the tenant for an existing 753,427 square foot building at 3000 Skyline Drive.
This achievement was recently recognized as the “Industrial Deal of the Year” by Dallas Business Journal, a testament to its significance and impact within the industry. Following the initial agreement, Site Selection Group worked diligently with Canadian Solar and CAPSTAR Real Estate Advisors to finalize a build-to-suit lease for an additional 766,000-square-foot facility. This strategic move was propelled by the "speed to market" advantage offered by the existing building, coupled with the unwavering support of Mesquite city officials.
The combined result is a visionary project that enables the company to establish its “most sophisticated manufacturing facility in the world”. The 1.5 million square foot campus positions Mesquite as a key player in the global renewable energy sector. Canadian Solar anticipates generating approximately 1,400 jobs and an investment that will contribute significant dollars in property tax revenue for schools and government entities.
Governor Greg Abbott heralded the project as a testament to Texas' status as the energy capital of the world and a beacon of innovation in the global tech sphere.
