Site Selection Group, a global location advisory, economic incentive and corporate real estate services firm, is proud to have contributed to the landmark $712 million investment by Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing, a subsidiary of e-STORAGE in Shelbyville, Kentucky. This transformative project is the largest economic development initiative in Shelby County's history and marks the largest job creation announcement in Kentucky since 2022. The new 1 million-square-foot facility will house a state-of-the-art, 6-gigawatt-hour battery cell, module, and packaging manufacturing operation. It is set to create 1,572 high-tech jobs, further solidifying Kentucky's position as a leader in the energy storage and electric vehicle sectors. Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing’s products will support the rapidly growing U.S. energy storage market with American-made, utility-scale battery solutions.
In addition to its record-breaking scale, this project demonstrates the power of strategic collaboration. With support from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) and local stakeholders, Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing received in excess of $55 million of economic incentives to support its investment and workforce development.
The site is expected to begin production by the end of 2025, ushering in a new era of economic growth for Shelby County and beyond.
