As we near the end of the first quarter of 2015, companies across the U.S. are completing projects from the previous year and announcing new projects for the coming year. Distribution_18929482The transportation and logistics industry has been no different. To accommodate rises in consumer demand in 2015, there is not only a need to efficiently distribute and deliver products, but renovate existing sites or expand to new sites.  Although the majority of production operations have some type of distribution function, most of the material moving activity in the U.S. is related to the retail industry, particularly e-commerce.

“Many communities are not only seeing themselves competing for new capital-intensive projects, but also witnessing an influx of reinvestment in major facilities already operating in their area,” said Josh Bays, Principal, Site Selection Group.
